Metro North Adult Basic Education

Who We Are
Metro North ABE is a partnership between eight school districts and other community partners in the northern metro. Together, we offer free classes to develop basic skills for adults ages 17 and up who are not enrolled in a high school program. Metro North ABE is part of a state-wide network overseen by the Minnesota Department of Education and is funded by both federal and state funds.
What We Do
Adults can take classes taught by licensed teachers and supported by trained volunteers who work with students to meet their educational goals. A student may start class at any time throughout the year and classes are offered year-round during the day and evening.

Classes offered can help students:
  • Improve basic reading, writing, and math skills
  • Earn a high school diploma or GED
  • Learn and improve the English language
  • Prepare for college or a career
